Engines Eligible for Delivery Inspection Service:
C7, C7 ACERT®, C9, C9 ACERT, C12, C12 ACERT, C12 ACERT
compact, C15, C15 ACERT, C18, C32, or 3400 Family engine sold through an approved O EM
This inspection service should be performed within 30 days
following delivery to the initial user or as soon as the engine is
operational (before the engine reaches SMU of 200 hours).
Delivery Inspection Services are provided FREE of charge, with
certain limitations*, by Caterpillar authorized dealers.
The inspection covers items related to operation and
maintenance of the engine, and is not a substitute for an
installation audit.

Any unusual costs, such as travel to a remote location, overtime, waiting time, etc., are subject to charge. Such unusual costs are not reimbursed by Caterpillar. |
Engine inspections will include (but are not limited to):

Ensuring that all fluid compartments are filled to safe levels and service points are lubricated |
• |
Checking for damage, leaks, and loose bolts |
• |
Reviewing Parts Book with user |

Reviewing Operation and Maintenance Manual with user, as well as: |

– Specifications for correct fuel, oil, and engine coolant |
| |
– Procedure for correct fuel handling during filter changes |
| |
– Fuel filter requirements (high efficiency) |
| |
– Oil filter requirements |

Reviewing procedure for testing and maintaining proper
Supplemental Coolant Additive levels |

Ensuring all decals and plates are visible and readable |
| • |
Inspecting entire engine air intake system for adequate sealing, mounting and servicing air cleaner, charging air cooler and lines if applicable |

Inspecting all on-engine wiring for adequate sealing, mounting, and grounding |

Reviewing engine features to the initial user: |
| |
– Engine starting and shutdown (normal and emergency) |
| |
– Safety alarms and shutdowns |
| |
– Controls |

Reviewing availability of Extended Service Coverage (ESC) for the engine |

Downloading engine parameters from ECU, providing copy to customer, and retaining copy in dealer files |
